Disastrous Bludgeon
June 1, 2015

The shift to agriculture put many in a ditch,
Coerced by a new militarized switch
As disease and conflict ran amok
They dug in those ditches like sitting ducks

Piling up hierarchy of social classes
Turning males into dominant asses
Private property and market relations
Virgin/whore dichotomous historical creations

Whatever positive effects it had for later generations
It was done with little conscious intention
what was unleashed was a
disastrous bludgeon

capitalism and the modern state
and the industrial revolution’s full weight
eroded patriarchy and the birth rate
but for many it was well too late

tore up, broke down, eating a poison pill
where we get the term “satanic mills”
the risk of capital versus life and limb
the right of some to shop on a whim

with a tiny few better off from the new inventions
It was done with little conscious intention
what was unleashed was a
disastrous bludgeon

Millions of stories retold and rejuggled
Turned into tales of individual upward struggle
A suppository of intellectualism
Yes, its methodological individualism

This was all done with very little conscious intention
what was unleashed was a
disastrous bludgeon
